How do I edit a customer subscription in Recurly Commerce?

You can update nearly every part of a subscriber’s active contract in real time—status, contact info, billing cadence, pricing, add-ons, shipping, and more—without disrupting the subscription.

Access the subscription

1. Go to the Customers tab.

2. Select Active or Inactive.

3. Click anywhere on the subscriber’s row to open the contract.

Status types:

• Active – currently renewing

• Inactive – canceled

• Failed (in dunning) – payment is being re-tried
  Tip: Pause/unpause to stop dunning and return to Active

Available actions

• Edit phone number
  Click the pencil icon next to the number, update it, and click Save.
• Edit email address
  Email addresses are locked. Contact Recurly Support to change.
• Set delivery / renewal date
  Click Set Delivery, choose a new date, and click Update.
• Process now
  Click Process Now to immediately charge the customer.
• Edit frequency
  Click Edit Frequency, choose a new cadence, and click Update.
• Change price
  Click Change Price, enter the new amount, and click Apply.
• Pause contract
  Click Pause, then choose either indefinitely or set number of deliveries.
• Skip next delivery
  Click Skip Next, select the delivery to skip, then click Confirm.
• Update quantity
  Click Update Quantity, enter the new amount, and click Apply.
• Apply coupon / discount code
  Click Coupon Code, enter a valid Shopify discount code, and click Apply.
• Swap product
  Click Swap Product, choose the replacement SKU, and click Swap & Save.
• Add-on subscription product (all deliveries)
  Click Add-on Subscription Product, select a product, and click Save.
• One-time add-on (single delivery)
  Click Select One-Time Add-On, choose the SKU and delivery, then click Save.
• Cancel subscription
  Click Cancel Subscription, confirm in the pop-up to stop renewals.
• Reactivate subscription
  In the Inactive tab, find the customer, click Reactivate, then confirm.
• Shipping and billing updates
  • Update shipping address
    In the Shipping Information section, click Edit, make changes, and click Update.
  • Update billing info
    Click Send reset email under Billing & Shipping to trigger a secure Shopify Payments reset link. The customer will update their billing on their end, and Recurly will sync the changes automatically.

Create a new subscription contract

1. Go to Subscriptions → Create Contract

2. Fill out the form (customer, plan, start date, etc.)

3. Click Create

Note: All contracts under the same email will be merged by Shopify. To create a separate contract, use a different email at checkout.
