Overview
This article explains how the Recurly Salesforce integration handles multiple subscription products within a single Salesforce opportunity. It covers current design behavior, known system limitations, and recommended workflows to ensure your data syncs smoothly.
How the integration handles multiple subscription products
When you add multiple subscription products to a single Salesforce opportunity, the integration syncs data based on specific object and product mapping rules. In most setups, Recurly Subscriptions processes this data using one of the following patterns:
One subscription product is selected as the primary product for the opportunity.
Only the first eligible subscription product is processed by the sync logic.
Additional subscription products remain in Salesforce but do not create separate, synced subscription records in Recurly.
If your configuration supports line-item level mapping, your sync behavior might vary based on your custom fields and specific rules.
Limitations to be aware of
Before configuring your products, please keep these structural limitations in mind:
The integration does not natively support creating multiple, separate subscriptions from a single Salesforce opportunity.
Revenue, term, quantity, or product details are only captured for the supported primary product record.
Sync behavior varies depending on your specific Salesforce object model, product setup, and custom configuration.
Recommended approaches
If your business model requires selling multiple subscription products to a single customer, we recommend using these workflows:
Review your structure: Look at your current Salesforce opportunity and product structure to confirm alignment with Recurly's mapping capabilities.
Split your opportunities: Separate your subscription products into individual Salesforce opportunities to ensure each one syncs as a distinct subscription.
Test in sandbox: Always test new opportunity configurations or changes in a non-production sandbox environment before deploying them to your live production account.
