When turning off a payment gateway, you have a couple different options depending your goal for transaction processing after.
Disable Gateway
If you'd like to turn your gateway off but leave it in a state where refunds can still process for any older transactions that originally processed through the gateway, you'll want to disable it instead of removing it completely. While disabled, your gateway will remain on the Payment Gateways page while it won't accept new payments in a disabled state, it will allow you the flexibility of being able to re-enable it later if you need to turn it on again.
How to Disable gateway:
- Go to Configuration > Payment Gateways
- Click Options on the gateway you'd like to disable
- Click Edit Gateway
- In Gateway Status select Disabled
- Click Update Payment Gateway to save
Remove Gateway
Removing a payment gateway will completely delete the gateway from your site and will not allow any further transactions to process through it. Removing the gateway should also remove it completely from the Configuration > Payment Gateways page.
How to Remove Gateway:
- Go to Configuration > Payment Gateways
- Click Options on the gateway you'd like to remove
- Click Remove Gateway
- Confirm your deletion request by entering DELETE in the text field
- Click Remove Gateway
