Improved Transaction Success Rates - Card On File

We’ve recently rolled out enhancements that may boost your transaction success rate. Good news, there’s no action required on your part to start seeing results! We put together a few points below to help give a better idea of what you can expect with this update.

What's New?

We’ve implemented some updates to our Card on File process that are designed to enhance how Recurly stores customer card data for use outside of an active  checkout session. For more info on Card on File, check out our Product Docs.

Why is Recurly making these updates?

We’re constantly improving our platform to stay ahead of gateway, network and regulatory updates. This update ensures compliance with evolving payment regulations and best practices, providing you and your customers with a more secure and seamless payment experience.

How will this change affect my business?

The update is designed to enhance the reliability of stored payment methods and improve the success rates of your transactions.

Do I need to take any action to comply with this update?

No! Most merchants will not need to take action, as the changes are being applied automatically. However, if your business uses custom Recurly.js and API configurations, we recommend reviewing Recurly’s Recurly.js documentation to ensure your configuration is implemented correctly.

Will my customers be notified of any changes?

No, Recurly will NOT send direct notifications to your customers.

Does this impact how payment methods are stored or processed?

The update enhances how cards on file are validated and stored but does not change the fundamental process of payment method storage.

Will there be any downtime or service disruptions?

No downtime is expected. Recurly is deploying these updates seamlessly in the background to minimize any impact on merchants.

What should I do if I experience issues related to this update?
