How can I calculate recurring revenue for the next 12 months minus discounts?

We don't have a report that will display this information in a straightforward way, however, you can use the Subscriptions export for what you need. 

 

When downloading the export, select "Renewing" for Subscription Status and "All Time" for the Time Range. FYI - This export does not take into account coupon discounts, so this will not be deducted from the total recurring amount. 

 

If you have any subscriptions configured with limited billing cycles, go to the total_billing_cycles column to remove all subscriptions that have this field set to anything other than "1" since you have some subscriptions that have a pre-set # of billing cycles left and you want to set those aside to ensure you aren't including them in your analysis if they are renewing less than 12 times ("1" is the default for subscriptions renewing indefinitely until expired). 

 

Once you have set those subscriptions aside, you can use the "plan_code" column to filter out all plans except monthly plans. Next, you will use the "total_recurring_amount" column to sum up the total subscription amount for those subscriptions and multiply that figure by 12 since they renew every month. Save that total and set it aside. 

 

Next, you will download that same export, but this time, you will filter the plan_code column to filter out all plans except 3-month plans. Next, you will again use the total_recurring_amount column to sum up the total subscription amount and then multiple that figure by 4 since that is how many times a 3-month subscription will renew in a 12-month period. Save that total and save it aside. 

 

Once that is done, you can move on to 6-month plans. You would repeat the process above, but once you have your total total_recurring_amount, you would multiple that by 2 since that is how many times a 6-month plan will renew in a 12-month period. You will also save that total and set it aside. 

 

The same process applies for your annual plans, except in this case, you only need to sum the total_recurring_amount column. There is no need to multiply by anything else since annual subscriptions only renew once in a 12 month period. 

 

If you have any other subscriptions with a custom billing cycle length, follow the same process as above and set those totals aside. 

 

Once you are done, you will sum all the subscription totals that you put aside for each set of subscriptions. For example: monthly plan total + 3-month plan total + 6-month plan total + annual plan total. 

Finally, you will also want to review the first list of subscriptions we set aside (with total_billing_cycles fields populated with figures other than 1) and go through each one to ensure you calculate the right amount that those subscriptions will contribute to recurring revenue. For example, if you have a subscription with a "4" under "total_billing_cycles" and that subscription is for a 3-month plan, this means that the subscription will contribute to recurring revenue for the next 12 months since it will renew 4 more times every 3 months. Make sure you add these totals to the figure we summed above.

This will be your expected recurring revenue for the next 12 months.
