Why doesn't the Subscription Plans total in Analytics match the total in Subscriptions export?

The Subscription Plans report under the Plans Dashboard counts the total number of subscriptions per plan the end of that interval (Daily, Weekly or Monthly).

 

For example, if you have the interval set to Monthly and you're looking at the month of May, this means that if a subscription was started on May 1, but expired on May 20, that subscription would not be counted toward the total for the month of May because it wasn't active on the last day of May.

 

If you were using the Subscriptions export to reconcile the numbers above, then you would want to remove all subscriptions with an expired_at date prior to May 31st because none of those subscriptions would count toward the Subscription Plans dashboard total for May.
