What are the subscription terms?

Subscription Terms allow merchants to create subscription plans which will lock the customer into a specific contractual length of time such as monthly, quarterly, or annual for their customer subscriptions. Subscription terms do not control when your customers are billed, instead it controls how long a customer is to be billed for before allowed to cancel or terminate the subscription.

For an example, you can create a plan with a 12 month term length but have the billing period length set to 1 month. This will effectively lock the customer into an annual contract where they will be billed 12 times total from signup. When setting the term length with a plan or subscription, you can also control what happens at the end of the term. You can either choose to have the term automatically renew and continue billing the customer, or have it set to automatically expire once the full term length has been served.
