Coupons are reliant on the configuration to be correct to apply to the right types of line items on invoices. A common reason coupons may not apply to subscription charges on an invoice could be due to how the coupon was configured.
When configuring a coupon, it is important to note whether you are setting up the coupon to apply to charges only from your items catalog or plan charges. The setting as seen in the screenshot below will limit your coupon to only being eligible to items from your catalog:
This means that if this option is selected, the coupon will only apply to an invoice if there is an item from the item catalog present on the invoice. It will not apply to any subscription charges or add-ons that are not configured as items since the coupon is limited to item sales only.
If this has been selected on your coupon, it will show in the Coupon Overview as follows:
If the intention is to have a coupon apply to subscription charges, you will need to create a new coupon and ensure the option to limit the coupon to items only is not selected.
